RAUM_FAHRT – Mobile Exhibition, Berlin–Łódź–Berlin 2004
Seven graduates from weißensee academy of art berlin embarked on a one-week mobile exhibition, each traveling in a truck carrying and presenting their own work. The route – Berlin to Łódź and back – transformed the vehicles into temporary exhibition spaces at public sites along the way, including service stations, town squares, and art venues. With bilingual signs („Space – Travel – On the Road – Between – Berlin – and – Łódź“), the project explored the boundaries between art and everyday life. In Łódź, the convoy participated in the 1st International Biennale, invited by Karin Sander.
Each truck functioned as both transport and exhibition space. I drove the Berlin truck, which featured the installation Maßnahmen am Normalnull on the roof. Inside, I stretched a red thread grid across the white walls – a cartographic framework for the drawing process. At each stop, I traced the local skyline, layering one line over the next. Over the course of the journey, the drawings accumulated into a dense, processual mesh – a visual fabric of place, movement, and memory.
Stops included: Berlin (Karl-Marx-Allee), Frankfurt/Oder, Słubice, Poznań, Łódź, and Łódź Village
Artists (msk7): Mona Babl, Christine Berndt, Won-Yeon Chung, Kati Gausmann, Ricarda Mieth, Ulrike Mohr, Anja Sonnenburg
