Anthrakothek (Vol. 2)
Anthrakothek (Vol. 2) includes new works by the artist Ulrike Mohr. Mohr’s artistic approach utilizes transformation processes of materials, which are influenced by complex research results, traditional knowledge, but also by chance. Starting from observations of nature, her works possess a distinct material presence. Her position as a sculptor is the result of a process-oriented handling of context-related materials, which she transforms into poetic installations. Her interest is not only in the material properties but also in the temporal dimension inherent in ephemeral substances.
This book provides insight into Ulrike Mohr’s artistic work over recent years, during which she has engaged with the process of charcoal burning and has incorporated the results into her installations.
With texts by Friederike Schäfer, Eva Scharrer, Mana Taylor, and Helmut Braun.
