Naturwissen Network on Tour:
Charcoal Workshop with Artist Ulrike Mohr
Saturday, April 13, 2024 | 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
This project is part of Netzwerk Naturwissen, an initiative of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and its partners across Berlin and Brandenburg.
Our collection preserves objects from various epochs of deep time, offering unique insights into Earth’s geological history. From prehistoric fossils to geological formations, each specimen tells its own story—allowing us to understand past ecosystems and the evolution of life on our planet. At the same time, these objects reflect the impact of human activity on nature and emphasize the importance of understanding, documenting, and preserving our environment. This exceptional collection not only testifies to botanical diversity but also opens up new ways of understanding the history and evolution of plant life.
The project group ‘Petrified Times: Energising Past Futures’ consists of Dr. Friederike Schäfer (FU Berlin), Dr. Elisabeth Heyne (MfN), Dr. Maike Weißpflug (Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management – BASE). The artistic works and the intervention were developed as part of the Netzwerk Naturwissen, an initiative of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and its partners from Berlin and Brandenburg.
