Charcoal Chimes
Two charred coconut halves – 7 × 7 × 5 cm and 7 × 7 × 4 cm – are carefully hollowed and carbonized so that each emits a clear, resonant tone when struck: C for the larger shell, E for the smaller. A small charcoal ball, suspended from a thread strikes the shells like delicate bells. The rhythmic swinging produces a simple, almost meditative two-tone interval. Beneath the installation, a square mirror (50 × 50 cm) reflects both the movement and the intricate patterns of charring, enhancing the work’s visual and auditory presence.
