Carbonized willow hoops, dimensions variable
In Black Holes, Ulrike Mohr uses carbonized willow hoops to form a kind of tunnel-like structure, inviting viewers to move through and experience shifting spatial dynamics. The hoops, transformed through charring, balance fragility and resilience, their circular shapes creating a rhythmic pathway that plays with light, shadow, and perception. This arrangement emphasizes the tension between presence and absence, solidity and void, making the work a poetic exploration of form and space.
