Franziska Furter’s exhibition Landscape with Landscape
featuring Ulrike Mohr, Timo Nasseri, Julia Steiner, and Markus Weggenmann
Within the group Remains of the Day, Ulrike Mohr’s installation-like black work Elevating Audrey Rose (2017) is presented. The piece is based on an arrangement of carbonized shingles distributed on a square surface and connected by cords. In a performative process, the charcoal drawing material became an extension of the dancer Audrey Rose Burden, who wore it like a dress—covering, protecting, and adorning her body. She manipulated the strings like a marionette’s puppeteer, giving the sculpture a new orientation.
The arrangement now on display echoes this performance while also directly resulting from the current installation realized in the gallery. Furter’s drawings and Mohr’s installation complement each other perfectly: the colored remnants resonate with the carbonized shingles, while the fragility of both groups of works manifests in distinct ways.
