Lost Panorama
Together with artist Susanne Weck, a research project centered on a panoramic Russian painting that was once installed in a former Soviet military base outside Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the painting was removed—leaving behind an empty space that sparked our curiosity and set us on a journey to uncover its story.
Our search took us from Berlin to Moscow and Shukhov, Russia. Over the course of four years, we followed the trail of the missing artwork—eventually not only finding the painting itself, but also meeting the original painter and even discovering the transport roll used to return the piece to Russia in the 1990s.
The resulting book documents this artistic expedition—our travels, the unexpected encounters, and the reconstruction of a largely forgotten history. The cover and book ends feature a trilingual map (German, English, and Russian) connecting all the people and places involved in the project.
